How to Crochet a Rose with Stem and Leaves | Tutorial
If you need a visual guide, there are LOTS of YouTube videos on how to make a crochet rose; and you'll find a bunch of videos that are basically the same pattern. I truly believe that everyone has the same design with different variations on the stitches used.
Crochet Pattern
Petals: Ch 51 *(to make your rose bigger or smaller, ch more or less)
- Row 1: sc in second st from hook, sc in each ch to end of row
- Row 2: ch 1, turn, *v-stich (dc, ch 1, dc), skip st — repeat to end of row
- Row 3: ch 1, turn, *shell (5dc) into ch 1 space, sc into the space that's next to ch 2 space — repeat to end of the row; sl st into the side of the last dc; fasten off with a long tail
Take one end and wrap it in a circular motion to shape the rose. Sew the yarn to secure the shape.
Sepal: magic circle, ch 1, 5hdc into ring, sl st to first hdc (pull tail to close the ring); ch 6, sc into second ch from hook, sc down the ch; sc into the next hdc,
*(repeat until you have five sets); fasten off, finish by tying the tail of the two ends
Leaf: ch 12, hdc into third ch from hook, hdc, dc, dc, tr, tr, dc, dc, hdc, hdc; on opposite side of worked ch — hdc, hdc, dc, dc, tr, tr, dc, dc, hdc, hdc; sl st to first hdc worked, fasten off
You can attach the sepal to the petals by sewing it with a yarn needle, or by using a hot glue gun — if you're not able to get the shape you want by threading, using a hot glue gun will hold the form better.
With a floral wire stem (available at craft stores), fold it in half and stick the ends into the center of the rose, make sure that each end goes into a different part of the center to secure the rose.
Attach the leaves to its own stem the same way, and then attach all the leaf stems to the rose stem with floral tape.
*FYI — there are many YouTube tutorials on making roses and how to attach the leaves and stem to the petals, if you need visual guidance; they are all basically the same.
