How to Crochet Pullover Sweater | Tutorial

6.5mm hook, (I used Red Heart yarn), and this would fit a baby who wears 3-6 months (my fatty wore that size when he was like two months old).

  • Ch 57
  • Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch to the end (55 sts total)
  • Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *(dc, dc, 2dc) repeat all the way to the end of row; (you should end with 2dc st)
  • Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *(dc, dc, dc, 2dc) repeat all the way to the end of row; (you should end with 2dc st)
  • Row 4: Ch 1, turn, *(dc, dc, dc, dc, 2dc) repeat all the way to end of row; (you should end with 2dc st), 108 sts total 
  • Row 5 (armholes): Ch 1, turn, dc in the next 15 sts, ch 2, skip 20 sts, dc into next 38 st, ch 2, skip 20 sts, dc into the remaining 15 sts; sl st to first dc at beginning of row to enclose, 68 sts total 
  • Row 6: ch 1, turn, dc in every st all around *(4dc into the ch 2 spaces) — 76 sts total
  • Row 7—14: ch 1, turn, dc into every st all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 15: ch 1, turn; dc2tog, one dc in next 14 sts; dc2tog, dc2tog, one dc in next 37 sts; dc2tog, dc2tog, one dc in last remaining sts until the last two sts; dc2tog the last two sts; sl st to first dc at beginning of round (70 sts total)
  • Row 16 and 17: ch 1, turn, dc into every st all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 18 and 19: ch 1 (make sure the front of sweater is facing you, if not, then turn after you ch 1); *(dc, fpdc) all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 20: ch 1, sc all around, sl st to first sc at beginning of round, fasten off

Sleeves

  • Row 1: with the back facing you, find the big gap of the armhole (which should be at the end of the fifth row); attach yarn, ch 1, dc; (dc2tog in next two spaces) repeat 4x; dc into every st all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round — 28 sts total 
  • Row 2: ch 1, dc in every st all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 3: ch 1, dc2tog, dc in next 14 sts, dc2tog, dc in remaining sts until at the last two sts, dc2tog, sl st to first dc at beginning of round (25 sts total)
  • Row 4-12: ch 1, dc in every st all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 13 and 14: ch 1, *(dc, fpdc) all around, sl st to first dc at beginning of round
  • Row 15: ch 1, sc in every st all around, sl st to first sc at beginning of round, fasten off

*You can sc around neckline (by working the other side of ch), or leave it as is; and sew a big button in the back for the closure.
